According to the USGS, this large Burmese python, which weighed around 162 pounds and measured more than 15 feet long at the time of its capture in 2009, and was caught alive in the Everglades. The snake was also found to have eaten an American alligator that measured about 6 feet in length.
USGS: Salt water alone unlikely to halt Burmese python invasion
Invasive Burmese python hatchlings from the Florida Everglades can withstand exposure to salt water long enough to potentially expand their range through ocean and estuarine environments.
